Oh hi, I didn't see you there. Oh wait, no you haven't seen me here.. since its my blog.. I know, I know, I've taken a rather larger hiatus from blogging but its all in good reason. Writing is my creative escape, so naturally I write best when I'm stressed. My mind is like a free-for-all of crazy anxious thinking, so putting the words on paper makes them tangible... and understandable. So lucky for you, or maybe not so lucky if you accidentally clicked on this link only to realize its just me rambling, I am back in school for my sophomore year of college, thats a weird sentence, and filled with stress already! Yay!
Since its back to school time, I figured a new tour of my bedroom would be the perfect first post back in what I hope to be, a consistent blog. Recently home decor has become a slightly unhealthy obsession for me... like when I say obsession, I mean I qualify to have a TLC special about me. I get this adrenaline rush when I buy decorative pillows, and if I know anything about science, which I don't, that doesn't seem like a healthy reaction. Don't people get adrenaline rushes when someone is in danger and they have to lift up a car? Or if someone just won the lottery? Oh well... lets just pretend its totally normal. I recently moved into the only renovated apartment in my schools building, I'm so lucky maybe I should play the lottery and feel a real adrenaline rush. Anyway, it's so cute and brand new and I couldn't wait to get my hands on decorating it, also luckily enough, my roommates entrusted me the duty of decorating, an honor in which I took very seriously! A full apartment tour may be making its way on here very soon! Until then, hopefully a bedroom tour will suffice.
I have been slowly collecting items over the course of summer, and some of these items are DIY, even my pillows! I know, I know, I'm the better looking Martha Stewart without the prison, and without all the money... which is most of the reason I had to make my own pillows in the first place.. anyway that is not important. What is important is how much you like my room! If you would like any more details on the DIY message me on either this blog or Facebook and let me know!
This is a more detailed shot of my gallery wall, which I think will rival the birth of my first child for one of my proudest moments because I love this thing!
(In order from left to right):
Small Black Picture Frame - Marshals
Small Circular White Mirror - Christmas Tree Shop
Gold Flower Canvas - DIY ALERT! This was made with stencils found at Michaels and gold spray paint.. literally could it be any easier!
"Happiness" Clear Framed Quote - Francesca's
"Girl Boss" Canvas - DIY ALERT this was just black paint, a reference picture on google, and a boring Saturday night to make this
Gold Rhino Head - World's Greatest purchase bought at Marshal's
Small Black Picture Frame - Marshal's
Four Square Vintage Photo - Christmas Tree Shop
P.S: Spot Olaf hiding behind my pillows, what a stud!
This is a storage bookshelf I found on Groupon for about 25 dollars, but I've seen these everywhere lately! They are really trendy because of their open structure, it's my favorite piece in my room.
I filled it with mostly picture frames, plus one awesome little globe I found at a store called Tuesday Mornings!
Lastly, are my prized possessions, my pillows! I adore these things. So we'll start from the back left.
Gold Geometric - Target
Green, Blue, Dark Pink, and Tan Pillow - DIY!
Black and White pom pillow - Marshal's
Dark Pink - DIY
Grey - DIY
Yes, I made three pillows for under 30 dollars! Whereas, my gold geometric one costs around $23... plus I could totally customize them to my room! I was a little worried about their durability, but they have held up three after class naps so far. I remove them at night, but otherwise they hold up so well!
I'm thinking a DIY week is well overdue so definitely keep your eye out for one in the next few weeks!
Next post will be up tomorrow! It's on my thoughts on the dreaded T word... transferring. It's a little rant, but hopefully it can enlighten a few minds!
