Skin Care Week

If you haven't noticed, I take skin care very very seriously. You can have the best outfit in the world, rock the hottest shoes, but if you lack confidence because your skin isn't under control... your perfect outfit is ruined.

I understand finding the perfect skin care product is a tedious and horrible process.. but it is worth it. In hopes of speeding up the process, here a few extra tips for overall healthy skin without using products!

Drink Water Drink Water Drink Water!

Drinking water is probably the best thing for your skin, and your overall health! The more water you drink the more glowing your skin will look and it will have a noticeable effect, I promise. Adding lemon or mint leafs into your water is an easy way to make it taste better, get a few more added nutrients, and also look super cool because you have fancy things in your water unlike those... regular people who drink regular water.

Use another face towel!

This tip may be basic for some of you... but others may never have even thought about it. When you wash your face at night, and hopefully in the morning, when you dry your face is it on the same towel you dry your hands? If so... STOP! Hand towels have so much dirt, bacteria and germs on them that you probably have never thought about it... and don't want to think about again after this post. All I ask is that you use a separate towel to dry your face at night!

PAT don't rub!

Weird title I understand... but it will make sense it a minute. After you dry your face with your own separate face towel... please don't rub your face dry. Rubbing on your skin to dry it, just as you would to dry your hands, only pulls at the skin on your face. The skin on our face is so sensitive that the constant pulling from 'rubbing' your face dry can cause irritation and the dreaded w-word no one wants to hear.... wrinkles! Pat your face dry and all the redness you see after your wash your face will slowly disappear!

Regularly Wash your Pillow Cases

This may be another tip some may say is super simple, but others may have never thought about it. Your pillow cases hold all the sweat (gross), oil and bacteria from your face and hair every night so if you go more than 2 weeks without throwing it in the wash... you are risking your skin to have oil and dirt build up.

Lastly, love your skin!

I know there are a billion and one things you can complain about on your face. Example, I hate how oily my skin gets, how my skin pigmentation makes any foundation look orange, and that I break out around my mouth every other day... but I've learned to embrace it. Just as much as this skin annoys me, it is the very one thing that sets me apart from others. Love your skin! It's yours and it makes you YOU! This blog is all about embracing your story... so learning how to embrace your skin in apart of the journey!

Now for the Skin Care Secret you will fall in love with!

This is my Lemon and Sugar Magical Facial

Ingredients: Lemon, lemon juice they sell in the bottle works just as well, cotton ball, sugar (hopefully organic, but any kind will do)

- First step is to take off you makeup if you are wearing any, and wash your face with warm water, warm water opens up your pores and helps your skin to purge out all the impurities!

- Next, squeeze the lemon, or pour the lemon juice onto the cotton ball. The lemon helps erase blackheads, corrects discoloration, can diminish scaring and fills you face with healthy nutrients.

- Pour sugar onto the cotton ball, it will stick to the lemon juice, and then start scrubbing this on your face! The sugar acts as an exfoliant to scrub away dead skin!

- It may feel harsh at first, but it will slowly start to calm down and you will be giving your face the most magical gift ever.

- Once you have scrubbed your face, wash away the sugar with warm water, pat you face dry and enjoy the results. Use twice a week or anytime you need a little pickup!

Your face will feel SO soft you will turn into a crazy person and make everyone feel it... I should have added that disclaimer in the beginning..
This scrub will give your face a gorgeous glow and it will make it feel insanely smooth. Use this before a night out and glow for all the pictures you better take!

The Start Of Skin Care Week!

Skin care routines are the "checking your bank account" of overall hygiene. NO ONE wants to ever take the time or effort to implement a skin care regimen into their day... but I'm sorry folks it is literally the most important part of your day! It is the only skin you will ever have, I hope because if not, that's weird, so you need to take the best care of it possible.

There are quite a lot of myths and 'fake rules' regarding skin care. I am no esthetician, but I am a blogger and we hold quite a lot of authority in this world. I have dedicated probably 32 days worth of youtube hours learning about various skin care lines, routines, products, and tips that I have found to be the most successful.

Disclaimer: Everyone's skin is different so the first step in finding the perfect skin care line for you is to identify your skin type! I have oily/combination skin so most of my tips will be in that favor. It is Skin Care Week, so my post this Thursday will have a face Scrub I adore, and a few tips for overall healthy skin!

If you need help identifying your skin type, I found this quiz online that helps zero in on your skin type. https://www.reneerouleau.com/quizzes/1/questions/1#.VMe1Uoc-BAZ

The first part of your skin care routine, is taking off your makeup!

Trust me, I know you hate the feeling of being ready for bed and then remembering to drag yourself to the bathroom to wash your face. But the least you can do in a situation like that is take off your makeup! They invented makeup wipes for a reason! My favorite is the Olay Fresh Effects Wipes, because they don't feel too harsh and strip away the oils on my face. Neutrogena also has their makeup removing wipes that are extremely popular and work well for a lot of people, but they tend to leave my face very oily and I usually break out after using them.

Makeup sitting on your skin seeps into your pores and causes oil and bacteria to build up overnight, which causes acne and blackheads. To avoid all those horrible things... take your makeup off!

The second part of my skin care line is a gentle exfoliant

Even though you may think you took all your makeup off... you didn't. Plain and simple. Makeup gradually sets into your skin throughout the day, so it won't all come off with a makeup wipe! A gentle exfoliant will work into your skin to take off the dead skin and the rest of your makeup. My favorite product for this is the Olay Fresh Effects "Out of This Swirled" Deep pore cleanser!

This cleanser feels so fresh on my skin, hint "fresh effects," and I love the gentle beads that exfoliate! Another favorite I switch to often is the St. Ives Apricot scrub. Both of these products help to ensure all the dirt and makeup is off my skin.

Next, a cleanser

Once all products are off your face, this is where you can begin to target acne, redness, or any other impurities on your face! I don't usually break out, so a product I like to use to generally cleanse and treat my skin is the Ulta product Philosophy "Purity." This cleanser feels so refreshing on my skin and it prevents breakouts before they even start!

If you suffer from acne, and want a harsh treatment to counter the breakouts, try using products with Salicylic Acid. Some websites say to stay away from this harsh chemical, but whenever I have a breakout, I turn to this to purge the breakouts and push out all the bacteria.

Mario Badescu is my FAVORITE skin care line, even though it falls on the higher end side of products. This line also has a really effective Enzyme Cleanser. That is a really good all over cleanser.

Look for products that treat your problem areas. Rule of Thumb: Look for products with as many recognizable ingredients as you can. Treating your skin with chemicals and acids you have never heard of can only irritate your skin even more. The more natural and organic ingredients, the better chance you have treating problem areas.

The most important part of your skincare is a Toner!

If you do anything skin care wise, please, please tone your skin! Every time you don't tone your skin, a blogger feels the pain.

Toning corrects the balance in you skin. Our skin is naturally acidic, and after all the products we put on our skin a day, it effects the PH balance of our skin. Toners help to restore the PH balance, treat acne, and overall cure our skin.

A harsh but extremely effective toner is Neutrogena Acne Stress Control toner. I admit, this product  burns the first, second, and hundredth time you use it, but I have never found another toner that restores the balance of oils and combats redness like this one.

For a less harsh treatment, Mario Badescu has a Glycolic Acid Toner that works just as well! This is a toner for more sensitive skin and it restores redness and helps cleanse your skin.

Lastly, MOISTURIZE!

After all the work you have done to clean and purify your skin, you have to help it restore over night!
Leaving your skin dry will only cause it to produce oil to make up for the dehydration. Your skin will always overwork itself and produce too much oil causing breakouts and oily skin.

My all time favorite moisturizer is the Mario Badescu Seaweed night cream! This feels amazing on my skin and really works to penetrate my skin and keep it healthy. Ensure the moisturizer you use is a Night Cream. These moisturizers usually have certain ingredients that seep into your skin overnight, rather than coat and protect your skin like most other daily creams. Oil Free moisturizers are really important for night time, because they don't use "fake" oils, they use the right ingredients to naturally moisture your skin.

I know I have blogged your ear off... or eyes off since you can't hear me... but regardless, skin care is SOO important. Important enough that I dedicated this week to be named Skin Care week!

Stay tuned for Thursday, my post will be my tips to keep your skin healthy, aside from your daily routine and one of my favorite sugar scrubs I use twice a week for glowing healthy skin!

Let's Do Leather!

As we all face the rough winter ahead, and the countless snow days we will soon endure... it is definitely time for a little surprise here on my blog to make your day inside a little more fun!

While I was in California I met one of my favorite people on this planet. I met this little gem the first day of orientation and from then, we have shared experiences and stories I'm lucky to be a part of. It also helps she's an east coast girl like me (where all the best girls are from)! She has such an eye for fashion and a killer style so I am so excited that today.... we are doing a collab post!!

Yes, yes everyone, you are lucky enough, today, this one time only (except, actually not, because I love working with Ashleigh) you get two looks from two separate bloggers!

We both styled a leather jacket, since it is a signature in Ash's closet and an exciting edgy piece for me, but we put our own looks to show different ways to style the jacket.

I decided to style my jacket in a casual look, but with a touch of edgy. This is a simple outfit, but when you add the leather jacket... it instantly becomes date night or girls night ready!

These shoes may be my favorite part of this outfit! These loafers are such a fun texture and print. With a plain outfit, the shoes are a really interesting piece to add something to pull the look together.

Scarf: Forever 21
Shirt: American Apparel
Jeans: Forever 21
Leather Jacket: Forever 21
Glasses: Urban Outfitters
Shoes: Lalia Rose

Ash decided to take the look straight to edgy! Don't be afraid to take chances, you are wearing a leather jacket.. you are already pretty much as badass as it gets.

I love what she did with the turtleneck, it is different but compliments the look so well!

She is a fellow blogger, so if you love this look be sure to check her out! Visit her blog for outfit details!!

Hope you enjoyed this fun little collab post! I will definitely be pairing up with her again! Let us know if there is something else you want us to style! Grab your leather jackets and style your little heart out!

'Rain Rain' Stay Around, I Look Cute...

Rainy days used to be fun... when I was five and rainy days usually meant recess inside... Now, they drive me insane!

I have NO motivation to do anything but Netflix; yes I just used that as a verb - Netflix (vrb): the act of doing absolutely nothing while continuously watching Netflix online.
Anyway, I usually feel super lazy on rainy days. Not to mention once I do find some form of energy to move, I can't do my hair because it'll get ruined, no outfit is worth ruining with a jacket or hood, and people drive like they are in slow motion. The ground is gross and your skin gets oily, if you haven't picked up on it by now..  bloggers hate rain, every single one of us.

My nightmares may have been saved because this Christmas, my wonderful boyfriend bought me a pair of the amazing and admired Hunter Rain Boots!!
I have been dying for these beauties for quite some time now. I love how simple and functional my Hunters are. From rainy days to running out for early morning breakfast dates, these boots are perfect! No I am not in any way affiliated with Hunter Rain boots, but if being so means I get a free pair... EVERYONE BUY HUNTER RAIN BOOTS!

I have the Glossy Black Hunters in 7.5

I have put together two separate Rainy Day looks to help give you some inspiration the next time God decides the world is just a little too pretty filled with cute outfits and dry hair...

This first look is 100% bumming it, in style of course!

What could have been so funny?

Clearly I was very happy to be comfortable on this rainy day, also apparently the bench was super funny... anyway I totally adore this outfit. I get to show off my Hunters, rock a beanie so my hair doesn't have to look like crap from the humidity, and also be super cozy! The cute and colored sweatshirt helps keep the outfit on the line of cozy, compared to bum. Find a sweatshirt you can rock on your lazy days and you will thank me forever!

Beanie - H&M
Maroon Sweatshirt - Bleu Denim
Leggings - basic white girl store
Boot Socks - Kohls
Hunters - Nordstrom

This second look is a little more of a "let's still try to be cute" rainy day look!

Not so casual, but not too dressed up! The best way to look stylish in harsh weather is to use the elements to your advantage
If its cold, wear a cute hat and scarf, if its raining, wear the cutest damn rain coat and boots you have!

I used a beanie in both outfits because its an easy way to ensure if you are caught in the rain, your hair won't be ruined! Not having the boot socks gives the Hunters a little more edge, it allows them to blend in with the black jeans! Definitely an outfit that allows for rainy day adventures!

Coat - Lalia Rose; its Cheetah and I love it
Camel Colored Long Sleeve - Forever 21
Black Jeans - Target
Hunters - Nordstroms

You work with what you have folks, and what we have is bad weather and the need to look fabulous. Hopefully these inspired you!

My Top Six Winter Tips

Unfortunately, the winter months are in full effect, and the end is still far away. The holidays have left us feeling like a day after online shopping; you are afraid to check your bank account, you spent most of the time alone, and none of your clothes ever fit right.

Fear not my children, there are a few tricks I have up my sleeve to help you beat your winter depression, and look better than everyone else doing it!

1. Do 30 minutes of physical activity a day!

Despite the cold and freezing weather, you can make time for 30 minutes of some form of physical activity. Take a trip to the gym with friends, find some fun workout videos online, do jumping jacks, sit-ups and pushups while you are watching your favorite show, or be brave and bundle up to take on the cold for a run around your neighborhood! The exercise will help shed some holiday weight, plus the endorphins will leave you feeling better in no time!

2. Stock up on sugar scrub!

I will be posting a new sugar scrub recipe later this week (posting on Tuesdays and Thursdays now!!)  but in the meantime, go to your nearest target and pick up Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub Coconut Lime. I am obsessed with this! As much as I love making my own masks, sometimes (prepare for a blogger confession) I don't feel like making my own! This is my favorite scrub to grab and totally refresh my skin. Use a scrub once a week to refresh dry and rough winter skin. Not only will this make your skin shine, it'll help moisturize it from all the dry weather.

3. Splurge on things to keep you warm!

No one wants to wear jackets to begin with, but you especially don't want to wear any that aren't even cute! This is a good investment, trust me I took high school economics, I know what I am talking about... Take the time to try on winter jackets. Stick with neutrals and you will be more inclined to wear them everyday without having to change your outfit! My favorite accessory is a fun textured scarf, they give texture to a plain jacket and they can also be worn with the outfit underneath! Splurge on some matching gloves and scarf to make traveling in the winter a little more stylish.

4. Pick up some of your favorite teas!

After a day in the cold, there is nothing better than curling up with a good book or you favorite movie and a nice, warm cup of tea. Teas are known to actually reduce stress, anxiety, calm nerves and cure a wide range of sickness, plus the yummy taste makes any sad mood happy. My favorite nighttime tea is chamomile, it soothes my overworked mind and puts me in a relaxed state before bed! If tea isn't your thing, I'm also a huge fan of Vanilla Bean Latte K-Cups! One teaspoon of raw sugar and you will be on your way to beating the winter blues.

5.  Redecorate, DIY, and Redo

When snow days keep you stuck inside, instead of laying around and watching tv all day... find some broken or boring things in your house and spend your day working out your brain and creativity by doing some DIY! Working with your hands and using all your creativity will keep you from feeling sad and fuzzy stuck inside all day! Your house will look better, creating a better and happier environment.. everyone wins!

6. Spend time with the people who matter!

The BEST way to beat the winter depression is to surround yourself with the most important people in your life! Cold weather leaves you looking for warmth, and I promise there is nothing better than spending time with your family and friends. Let the people around you in on how you are feeling and beat the blues together!

Hope some of these tips help you make the best of this winter! Let me know down below which one is your favorite!

I will be posting twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, as regularly as I can.

2015 - Clean out your closets and make room for the NEW!

As 2015 makes it start, we too should make our start clearing out our closets of clothes we haven't worn in years and make way for some new clothes that will make a bigger difference in our fashion!

I dress my mom, literally, I buy all her clothes and make her try on every crazy thing I see that I want her in.. and after years of forcing clothes on her credit card and body, it's paid off and I am more than proud to say my mom has style!

It's a similar feeling to buying someone an awesome gift you liked yourself, even though I liked controlling her outfits and style, I know she'll enjoy it more when people compliment her and she doesn't have to say "my amazing and super stylish and super perfect daughter picked it out"... thats what I assume she says at least...

anyway, my abilities have made their way around my family and it makes me feel so awesome some of my family actually values what I say! Most of the time they just laugh and say "ugh at least she's pretty.."

Well no more folks! I'm actually pretty smart in the fashion industry so grab your notebooks, this is a lesson from me.

My cousin Nikki wanted some outfit suggestions and I started thinking, instead of some shirts and pants suggestions, I would post some signature pieces that can be changed and intensified to totally redo a wardrobe!

My first absolute must have to redo your closet is a White Blazer

White blazers are a MUST HAVE right now! They can make an outfit super edgy, mixed in with some really cool signature jewelry that will appear later in this post, or be clean and sophisticated paired with simple pieces. These blazers can be re-worn hundreds of times, and no one will even notice because every look can be different!
Also, once my cousin falls in love with how versatile and perfect white blazers are, I would LOVE to see her in this..

She has gorgeous brown hair and this color will compliment it for a night out!

Second piece of clothing to redo a wardrobe is Printed Sweaters

These are so insanely perfect for a mother on the go. You can dress these down and wear them as is, which is super cute! Or pair them with jeans and bright colored flats and you are casual but still cute! Or, you can even wear these under the beautiful blazers you just bought! The stripes under the blazer is too die for.
The neutral colors will compliment my cousins style, plus give her the prefect foundation to add some really fun and bright signature pieces! hint hint to my next post

Number three is, Colored Jeans

Just like every other part of these essential pieces to add to your wardrobe, colored jeans serve 101 purposes! These pair so perfectly with the printed sweaters!
These can go with boots, flats, heels, really anything!
I love the mint colored jeans for Nikki because she can pair them with black heels and a black/grey top for going out and it would look so pretty on her body! I'm actually obsessed with the mint ones... might have to buy myself some!

Next is something not so versatile, but just as important, one pair of Killer Pumps

Now, I understand not everyone loves heels or can wear them, but I make a bloggers promise (which is legit as hell) that one pair of these heels can make going out so much better!
I am so in love with both of these shoes, and I think Nikki would really look good in the black ones. They aren't too high, and they can take a simple outfit of jeans and shirt to a whole new level!

Super cliche, but for a good reason, my next choice is Statement Necklaces

Both of these neutral, but super simple, signature necklaces can dress up any look! Pair these with those printed sweaters, jeans, and heels... hello date night!! These necklaces provide a sense of style and class to a simpler look.

After searching through the website, I found a few miscellaneous pieces I thought Nikki would kill in! ... P.S that means she would look bomb!

Simple, but can be layered to add a feminine touch to an outfit

This mint green with her hair is literally so gorgeous!

I love the dimensions in this sweater! It creates its own layering

A few extra purchases of some cool pieces you never owned before can add together to make it seem like you bought a whole new closet... but really all you did was read my blog! (shameless promotions never hurt anyone)

I hope some of these tips helped, but I especially hope that you have found some good examples Nikki! I'll be home soon for some private bookings! Lol

Thanks for reading, until next time!

I'm Back!

It has been quite some time since I've last posted on here... but I am back and committed to channeling all my passion towards telling my story and blogging my life!

A few things have changed since we've last seen each other, scratch that, A LOT has changed..

A little over two months things in my life took a drastic change. I had been attending FIDM for a full quarter, and a few weeks into the second quarter and I just started feeling like maybe this wasn't the best school for me. At the time, I was living with my sister, in a house about 15 minutes from my school. This distance did more than just get me to school late on occasion, it created a huge distance between my friends and I, both physically and socially. I wasn't able to walk down the hall or across the street to hang out at night, and driving into the city was something I only did rarely. On top of the distance, I felt like I was living the life of a 25 year old. We would go to clubs, I had a pretty serious job, and I lived in a full furnished home, which I loved so much despite how annoying it was at times.  I visited home for the first time in 4 months in October, and it was during that trip I realized I was really missing out on the college experience because every one of my friends had amazing stories... and all I had was "this one time at this club"... like I said, don't get me wrong, I LOVED every thing I did in Cali, and trust me I did some amazing things, but I just kept feeling like this life would be better suited for me at 25, not 18 (even though now I'm 19 now whoop whoop) so after I came home, to cali, from my trip to Delaware, I told my school guidance counselor about how I was feeling towards FIDM, and that talk changed my life before I even knew it. Essentially, I had to withdraw from FIDM by November 18th, or else I would owe all of next years tuition, non refundable. With two open doors in front of me, one Cali, the other another school back home, I had to make a really hard decision...

At the end of the day, I had to make a decision for myself, one for  my soul, not my social media likes... and I choose to come back to Delaware and still chase my dreams at a new fashion school, Philadelphia University.

So before you worry, I am still passionate as anything to make my mark on the fashion industry, I am still doing fashion merchandising as my major, and yes, I will still blog... even more now that I'm not dealing with all the craziness I did before!

Let 2015 mark a new chapter in my book, a new story to embrace. I will NOT let this move tear me down, I am still Casey and I will still be fabulous. Now it's time to take over a new school...

I hope you stick around to read all my stories of fashion, beauty, and my life... it should be pretty interesting.
